Ceramic Insulation

Ceramic Insulation Design and Engineering Insulation

What is Ceramic-Cover or Ceramic insulation?

Truly a product of the space age, Ceramic-Cover or ceramic insulation is a revolutionary insulation and corrosion resistant material which is in a liquid form and is applied by spraying. Just one thin coat of 16 mils has a comparative R value of 20. The unusual insulating and corrosion resistant properties are derived from the product’s core material “amorphous silica” or ceramics. Encapsulating the ceramic compound is an extremely high quality acrylic binder which provides elasticity and strong adhesion. It can be applied to practically any surface (metal, wood, masonry, glass, etc.) Since UV rays do not harm or break down Ceramic-Cover it can be applied outside as well as on the interior.

Basic characteristics of ceramic insulation:

  1. The ability to bond to almost any surface
  2. Single process spray application
  3. Reflect 98% of harmful UV rays
  4. Impervious to water once cured
  5. Protects metal surfaces from harmful chemicals and rust
  6. Environmentally friendly – non toxic
  7. Fire resistant-(flame spread of 5-Type F is 0 flame spread)
  8. Can be applied to hot surfaces (up to 450 degrees F)
  9. Warranted for 10 years against product failure
  10. The reflective ability of the ceramic compound (84% solids) will reflect 96% of heat waves entering the surface where applied thus lowering the conductive transfer of radiant heat lowering the BTU’s of heat produced due to conductivity resulting in lowered cooling costs.

What are the uses for ceramic-cover or ceramic insulation?

a             Insulation and weather barrier for Roofs

Application of Ceramic-Cover to a standard “built-up” roof will  add years of life to the roof plus reduce heating and air conditioning costs by as much as 40%.

b             Metal Buildings

Ceramic-Cover on metal buildings provides the same durable weather resistant insulation benefits as on built-up roofs plus protection from corrosion due to salt fog and chemicals.

c             Steam Pipes, Tanks, and Boilers

It can be applied to hot surfaces up to 450 degrees. Ceramic-cover conserves energy by containing heat while reducing surface temperature and adding safety by reducing risk of burns. It provides a protective coating against corrosion and eliminates problems from saturation and sagging which are typical with fiberglass.

d             HVAC Ductwork

Application of Ceramic-Cover to air ducts eliminates radiant heat on hot duct and impedes condensation on cold duct. Fiberglass, foam, and other insulations can be eliminated, reducing the amount of space required for insulation.

e             Walls, Floors, and Ceilings

An excellent insulation and vapor barrier for walls, floors and ceilings. Ceramic-Cover can also serve as the finish coat eliminating the need for paint. Ceramic-Cover comes in white and can be tinted.

f               Refrigerated Trailers and Food Freezers

Insulating with Ceramic-Cover retards condensation, prevents corrosion, and saves space. One 16 mil application of Ceramic-Cover out performs 4 inches of foam rated at R-20.
